Our scoring framework
Each brand gets a composite score out of 5.0. That score is the weighted average of five categories, applied consistently across every review. The weights below reflect what matters most to the typical Malaysian player.
What we actually do for each review
Every published review represents a minimum of 14 days of live testing on the platform. The testing checklist:
- Deposit RM50–RM100 via FPX from a real Maybank or Public Bank account. We test the lowest-friction payment method available.
- Complete KYC verification with a real NRIC and selfie. We document the verification time and document rejection rate.
- Play 500+ slot spins across at least 3 providers (Pragmatic Play, PG Soft, JILI typical) to sample RTP and game variety.
- Submit 3–10 withdrawal requests at varying times of day (weekday morning, weekend night, mid-week afternoon). We record each request's processing time.
- Test live chat support with 4 questions of varying complexity: simple (deposit issue), procedural (bonus terms clarification), technical (game freeze), and edge case (account closure request).
- Audit the bonus terms against the casino's promotions page and any affiliate marketing claims. We flag discrepancies.
- Verify license details against the public registry of the issuing jurisdiction (Curaçao eGaming, MGA, PAGCOR).
How we score each category
Withdrawal speed (25%)
The single most important factor for players. We submit withdrawals via the casino's fastest payment method (typically FPX or DuitNow) and time each request from submission to received.
| Median time | Score |
|---|---|
| < 15 minutes | 5.0 / 5 |
| 15–30 minutes | 4.5 / 5 |
| 30–60 minutes | 4.0 / 5 |
| 1–6 hours | 3.5 / 5 |
| 6–24 hours | 3.0 / 5 |
| 1–3 days | 2.5 / 5 |
| 3+ days | 2.0 / 5 or lower |
Bonus value (20%)
Headline bonus amounts mean nothing without wagering context. We compute effective bonus value using the formula:
Effective Value = Bonus Amount × P(completion)
Where P(completion) is the probability of meeting wagering requirements before the bonus expires, based on the wagering multiplier, game RTP contribution, and time limit. A RM500 bonus with 15× wagering and 7-day expiry has lower effective value than a RM200 bonus with 3× wagering and 30-day expiry.
License & trust (20%)
We verify license numbers against jurisdiction registries. We also check:
- Operator's parent company and corporate registration
- Domain age (anything under 6 months gets flagged)
- Complaint volume on AskGamblers, ThePogg, Casinomeister
- Whether the operator has been publicly fined or sanctioned
- SSL certificate chain — self-signed certs are an automatic fail
Game library (20%)
Game count alone is misleading — what matters is provider diversity, RTP transparency, and live dealer breadth. We score:
- Number of distinct slot providers (target: 8+ for full marks)
- RTP information available per game (transparency signal)
- Live dealer streams from Evolution, Pragmatic Play Live, or Pretty Gaming
- Mobile play quality across iOS Safari and Android Chrome
- Demo play availability for slots
Support & payments (15%)
Live chat response time is measured at three time points (10am MYT weekday, 11pm MYT Friday, 3pm MYT Sunday). Payment options scored on:
- FPX availability and bank coverage
- TNG eWallet, GrabPay, Boost integration
- DuitNow QR support
- Minimum deposit thresholds (RM10–30 is competitive; RM100+ is poor)
- Withdrawal method matches deposit method (no forced bank-only payouts)
Our anti-bias policy
Specifically:
- No operator can buy a higher ranking. Rankings reflect test scores only.
- Our affiliate commission rates do not vary based on what we publish. Every operator pays the same standardised rate per converted player.
- Editorial decisions are made by reviewers who are not involved in affiliate negotiations.
- If a casino we recommend is later found to be acting in bad faith (delayed payouts, T&C abuse, license loss), we re-test and re-rank within 14 days.
- We publish negative findings even when the operator is an affiliate partner. See our blog for examples.
When we don't review a brand
Some operators ask us to review them and we decline. Reasons we say no:
- No verifiable license from a recognised jurisdiction
- Domain registered within the past 60 days with no operator history
- Pattern of player complaints about non-payment on third-party forums
- Refusal to provide test account credentials for hands-on review
- Requests for "edited" or "approved" reviews before publication
- Operators targeting prohibited jurisdictions (we focus on Malaysia)
How we keep reviews current
Casinos change. A brand that scored 4.8 last year may have slowed withdrawals, weakened bonus terms, or lost staff. Our re-audit cadence:
- Top 10 brands — re-tested quarterly. Withdrawal speed audited monthly.
- Featured brands — re-tested every 6 months minimum.
- All other reviews — updated whenever players report material changes, or annually at minimum.
Each review carries a "Last updated" date in the byline. If it's older than 12 months, treat the specific scores with caution and check the casino's current state independently.
What we cannot guarantee
We test in good faith with real money, but online gambling carries inherent risks that no review can eliminate:
- License conditions can change after we publish
- Operators may treat reviewed accounts differently from regular accounts (we use unmarked accounts where possible, but operators with sophisticated fraud detection may flag us anyway)
- Bonus terms change frequently — always read the operator's current terms before claiming
- Withdrawal speed varies by deposit amount and account history; our medians reflect small-to-medium player profiles
Disagree with a review?
We update reviews based on documented player evidence. If you've had a materially different experience with a brand we've reviewed, email editorial@freecreditcasinos.net with:
- Brand name and your registered username (we won't publish it)
- Specific issue (withdrawal time, bonus terms, support quality)
- Screenshots or transaction IDs where possible
- Your timeline of the issue
We aggregate these reports and re-test brands that accumulate three or more credible complaints in a 30-day window.
The bottom line
Online casino reviewing is full of bad-faith actors. Affiliate sites that ranked operators by commission rate. Comparison tables that conveniently omit slow-paying brands. "Independent" reviews written by content farms that never deposited a cent. We exist because that ecosystem failed Malaysian players, and we think doing the work properly — slowly, expensively, and transparently — is worth it.
If you find any part of our methodology wanting, tell us. We've updated this page six times since launch, and we'll update it again.
